1989 – de pază la Securitate

Unul dintre episoadele interesante pe care le-am trăit în 1989 în timpul Revoluției (la care am participat în calitate de răcan al UM din Slatina) a fost “paza” sediului Securității din Municipiu. Am fost mobilizați în număr destul de mare în seara zilei de 24 decembrie. Personal, am primit din belșug muniție de război împreună cu ordinul de a păstra pistolul mitralieră armat, fără piedica pusă. În plus, aveam ordinul de a deschide focul fără somație la orice semn de activitate umană desfășurată dincolo de perimetrul gardului din beton ce împrejmuia sediul securității. ”Orice semn” putea însemna și doar o ușoară mișcare a perdelelor de la ferestrele clădirii sau aprinderea vreunui bec.

Architecture Is Frozen Music

The aim of the project was to turn the structures into music: shape, form, internal tensions and so on.

I extracted relations between the architectural shape and its structural support. Any change in architectural shape changes the structural shape and, consequently, the response of the structure to the exterior forces.

During the life of a building people perception “extracts” different states of building equilibrium that incorporates not only the geometry, but different other external or internal relationships between the whole and its parts. I turned these states of perception in musical events.

On the other side, from the engineering perspective, in any moment the structure reflects a static equilibrium state. This was easily turned into additional set of sound events.

Finally, I used all this complex relations in two ways: first to express it in musical chords composition and second to tune various synts parameters.
